Paulo Ferreira is an acclaimed Portuguese tenor with a unique combination of vocal and dramatic skills. He studied Piano, Cello and Voice. He is graduated from the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts, Porto, Portugal, afterwards studying Voice in Italy; he has won several first prizes in singing national and international competitions and has received funding from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He made his operatic debut as Don José (Carmen, Coliseu do Porto, 2007), which was received with great enthusiasm by both audience and press.
Mr. Ferreira made his international debut in Germany in July 2011, singing alongside Anna Netrebko in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. Posteriorly he performed in Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary and Sweden in the roles of Ismaele (Nabucco), Manrico (Il Trovatore), Don Alvaro (La Forza del Destino) and Foresto (Attila), of G. Verdi; Cavaradossi (Tosca), Des Grieux Grigorij (Manon Lescaut), Calaf (Turandot) G. Puccini; Grigorij (Boris Godunov) M. Moussorgsky; Giasone (Medea) L. Cherubini; José (Carmen) of G. Bizet; Ein Sänger (Rosenkavalier) R. Strauss; Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) F. Cilea; Gabriele (Cristina di Svezia) G. Foroni; Hagenbach (La Wally) A. Catalani recorded on DVD for the Capriccio label; and Oratorio repertoire and concert with the tenor solo in Requiem (W. Mozart); 9th Symphony (L. Beethoven) and Requiem (G. Verdi).
Recently he made his Debut in Italy in the role of Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) F. Cilea, at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, directed by Maestro Daniel Oren (October, 2016).
In future engagements Mr. Ferreira will perform Don Alvaro (La Forza del Destino, Verdi) at the Theater Basel, Switzerland; Riccardo (Un ballo in Maschera, Verdi) on Tiroler Landestheater, Innsbruck, Austria; Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut, Puccini) at the Staatsoper Hannover, Germany and Enzo (La Gioconda, Ponchielli) Malmö Opera, Sweden.
